1. VOWELS
- A is pronounced ' a ' as in car, bar, tar
- E is pronounced ' ay ' as in day, may, say
- I is pronounced ' ee ' as in see, she, me
- O is pronounced ' o ' as in go, so, no
- U is pronounced ' ou ' as in you, do, who
2. CONSONANTS
- CH is pronounced like ' j ' in jazz, jump, jog
- PH is pronounced like ' p ' in pain, pet, polio (aspirated ' p ' )
- TH is pronounced like ' t ' in topic, terrace, tea (aspirated ' t ' )
- NH is pronounced like the Spanish ' ñ ' in español, mañana, piñata (similar to the ' nyuh ' sound heard in the word "canyon")
- K is pronounced like the French soft ' k ' in kaki, kilo, kiosque
- P is pronounced like the French soft ' p ' in parc, poisson, parachute
- T is pronounced like the French soft ' t ' in tomate, tableau, tante
- V is pronounced like ' w ' in we, wall, water
- All other consonants have the same phonetic sounds as their English counterparts.
